Welcome to thebefu.org! We, Black Edfluencers-United (BE-U), are a platform created to support Black educators and improve educational opportunities for Black students. In today’s society where systemic racism and inequality are still present, we believe that quality and equitable education can be an important tool for change. Our mission is to provide our children with a learning environment that allows them to reach their potential, feel confident, and gain a sense of belonging.
Educators play a key role in creating an inclusive educational space, especially for those children who need not only to learn, but also to feel accepted and safe. BE-U aims to support black teachers by providing them with resources, training and professional development opportunities. Our goal is to ensure that the work of these educators is recognised and their voice has an impact on the educational system.
Black educators face a number of unique challenges, including a lack of local support, bias, and limited resources. BE-U seeks to overcome these barriers by creating a platform for shared experiences and support where every educator can find allies and resources for their work.
To achieve our goals, we have formed four committees, each responsible for specific aspects of our mission:
Policy. This committee is dedicated to researching and promoting legislative initiatives to protect the rights of black students and educators. We are committed to changing the system to be responsive to the needs of all students, regardless of background or colour.
Advocacy. The Advocacy Committee works to raise public awareness of black educators‘ and students’ issues. We raise issues of racial disparities in schools and make improvements at the systemic level.
Capacity Development. This committee provides trainings and educational programmes for teachers to develop their skills and apply them to improve learning. We create opportunities for professional development, which is especially important when there is a lack of support for black educators.
Culture and Community. The Culture and Community Committee focuses on restoring and supporting the cultural identity of Black students. We believe that culture is an integral part of learning and self-development, so we organise events that help students feel confident and proud of their history.
Education is a powerful tool for tackling inequality, but Black students often face a number of unique challenges. Among them:
Lack of an inclusive context. Black students often study in environments where their cultural identity is ignored or marginalised. This can create feelings of alienation and make learning difficult.
Systemic bias. Black students often experience prejudice, which can affect their academic performance and self-esteem. BE-U strives to create a system where every student feels supported and respected.
Lack of role models. Having black teachers and mentors is an important factor in building student confidence. BE-U is actively working to ensure that black educators have more opportunities for self-actualisation, which in turn will be a support for students.
Limited Resources. Schools in Black communities are often underfunded, which reduces the quality of education. We bring attention to this problem and work to find solutions that can make a difference.
Culture and the educational process are inextricably linked. BE-U creates the conditions for students to be proud of their cultural identity without feeling discriminated against. The Culture and Community Committee organises events that help students learn about their history and feel connected to it. We create an environment where students can openly discuss their cultural roots, thus building a sense of belonging and confidence.
Our cultural initiatives include:
Exhibitions and festivals celebrating African heritage, which take place in both schools and community centres.
Thematic workshops in history, literature and art to help young people better understand their cultural identity.
Hobby clubs and clubs where students can meet, share experiences and support each other.
Online betting has established itself in recent years not only as a way of entertainment, but also as a powerful tool for funding important social initiatives. At BE-U, we see online betting as another resource that can support projects aimed at improving the education of black students and the professional development of black educators. Through partnership programmes and support from online betting platforms, funds can be raised for cultural events and educational programmes aimed at unlocking the potential of students.
The funds raised will help to expand BE-U’s capacity and organise additional activities such as educational workshops, training sessions and cultural festivals. This will enable even more students to feel supported and participate in programmes where their voices are heard and respected. Support through online betting is an important step towards pooling resources to achieve our common goal: creating equal educational opportunities for all.
BE-U is a movement calling for active support for Black educators and students. We believe that everyone who shares our values can contribute to improving the educational system. By joining our movement, you will be part of a team working to create an equitable and inclusive education for Black communities.
